Mike Wofford can be heard on every Gainesville Gol’Diggers home broadcast with play-by-play partner Dan Brown on the Gol’Diggers official radio station, 97.5 GLORY FM-WGTJ RADIO.  Mike has been a local sports broadcaster since 1978 as an announcer for local high school baseball, basketball, and football games in the Gainesville/Hall County/north Georgia area.  He has served the community as president and general manager of WGTJ for 23 years, and you can hear him on the air weekday mornings from 6-10 AM.

He worked on the broadcast of the first baseball game played at Ivey- Watson Field in 1987 and broadcast the Gainesville High state championship playoff games when Gol’Diggers coach Micah Owings played for the Red Elephants.  Mike, his wife Janet (a registered nurse), and their daughter Lilly are lifelong residents of Hall County, and Lilly is part of the broadcast team as she provides the video feed of the broadcasts on twitter, @teamglorysports.  Mike sees the Gol’Diggers games differently than anybody else because he is blind due to a degenerative retinal eye disease, retinitis pigmentosa, and you will see him walking with his hand on Lilly’s shoulder and using his white cane at the games.
